Miscellaneous materials documenting the wide variety of issues and topics involved in the management of non-forest state lands and their mineral and other resources. Included are correspondence and records documenting the divisional budget and finances, State Trust Fund lands, the division's Hibbing Office, sale and lease of summer and lakeshore home sites and University of Minnesota salt spring lands, Director Ray Nolans's service on the National Resources Planning Board and as Emergency Coordinator of Mining for Minnesota, a 1930s Mud Lake, Marshall County, land acquisition for a combined federal-state migratory bird refuge, iron ore leases, railroad right of way deeds, and inactive mines. There are also assorted reports dealing mainly with mining and iron ore and photographs of mining operations, Reserve Mining Company facilities, and the division's State Fair exhibits.
